Per Axel request:

1. Gaia strings
2. Keyboard support (bug 866746)
3. Gecko b2g strings
4. Check maps and other shipped third-party apps.
5. Check marketplace integration
6. QA for every screen and truncated strings on Gaia.

Asking for leo? since we want it on 1.1.

We have nightly and depend (on-checkin) device builds, so timing isn't an issue.

a) are we ready to turn Catalan on?
b) if so, we need to add Catalan to https://github.com/mozilla-b2g/gaia/blob/v1-train/locales/languages_dev.json .

String-count-wise, adding Catalan for testing is OK, we should see at the testing results if it can stick.

Aki: this looks good, but I believe we need to create a git mirror for the 'ca' hg repo before this can land.  Hal should be able to confirm this.  (We should document this at https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:B2G/Adding_Locales#Technical_Infrastructure)

Why two pull requests?  Wouldn't it be easier to land on master and cherry-pick to v1-train?

Lastly, Axel is the best person to send review requests to these days.  I'm no longer as involved in Firefox OS as I used to be.

Yes, we need requests to mirror depending on what is going to be used in FFOS
 1. gaia-l10n/ca (for gaia strings)
 2. releases/l10n/mozilla-beta/ca (for gecko strings, if needed)

I'll start on #1 and assume #2 is not needed for 'ca' (and update the docs). Update with "needinfo" if that is not correct.

Adding 'qawanted' keyword to compare the 2013-07-24-14 nightlies on-device install size against a previous nightly's on-device install size, since there was concern about how much disk usage the additional language would add.

Looking at the Mozilla RIL directory, it seems they are the same size: this morning's one is 126M and the latest one is 126M as well.

Looking at the Com RIL directory, it says 79M for this morning's and the latest one is 79M as well.

If this is not the correct way to verify this please let me know (because I don't see how else to measure that) and add again the qawanted keyword as well. thanks

The Catalan-enabled nightlies don't seem to be finished yet:

ok I misunderstood. I saw a build that just came out and since you said Catalan was kicked off, I believed it was done. I've in fact flashed my device now and it's not there yet.

I've been checking 3rd party apps list provided by Guillermo.

No problem detected because of the locale used. Some of the apps were even offering a default Catalan translation. That's good.

Some extra notes:
* I suggested Movistar created apps could have a Catalan translation.
* One of the games was not actually available in the market.

Following up on QA wanted:
Moz Ril still shows 126M size, and Com Ril still shows 79M, so there is no difference in size since Catalan has been added

Verified on Leo V1.1 MOZ RIL,
Gaia and Gecko b2g strings are localized in the Catalan language without truncation, with a keyboard implementation, with MarketPlace
However, there are still existing opened bugs about localization
