Brade was waiting for me to expand on that ...
Basically, on Mac OS wherever we currently call <colorpicker>, we should be
using the OS-provided colorpicker. Examples of such places:
* the Colors category of prefs
* the Composer category of prefs
* formatting dialogs in Editor (Composer and message composition).
At the current rate of Mozilla development, implementing a colorpicker in XUL
which is as nice or as useful as the Mac one will take about ten years. Using
the native one would take a fraction of the effort, and would make Mozilla more
consistent with the rest of the OS.
This bug might belong in XP Toolkit: Widgets.

I believe this colour picker can either be opened in its own window or embeded
in a dialog. I wonder if we still have the ability to embed native controls in
XUL? Mind you, I think most moz colour pickers are in their own dialogs, no?
