RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 825264

People

(Reporter: alexmcc78, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20131112160018

Steps to reproduce:

Hello,

Firefox 25.0.1: Official channel
Windows 8.1 64-Bit

I've been having trouble with Facebook Messenger for Firefox later whereby it says I am 'not logged in' but am. Like most people who use this (buggy) add-on it's started working again but now the Facebook Chat aspect isn't working, the error shown in the title is displayed instead.

Actual results:

Facebook Messenger for Firefox isn't connecting, saying:

"You're not connected to Messenger. Please check your Internet connection and try again."

Obviously I have Internet access. I've tried the following to fix it:

1. Delete all cookies with Facebook in the name
2. Clear Internet Cache
3. Remove/reinstall the Facebook Messenger for Firefox add-on
4. Load Firefox in Safe-Mode
5. Disable my Firewall/AntiVirus (ESET Smart Security 7)

Expected results:

Facebook Messenger for Firefox should connect and display my Facebook friends.

Can anyone help? Thanks
I'm afraid this is a problem on Facebook's end.

Thanks. I searched before posting but oddly couldn't find that other bug. Grrr. Get it sorted Facebook!

Have we ever had a reason why it's SO unreliable? It's always breaking and Facebook are never in a rush to fix it. They do eventually but it could be weeks and weeks.
