Currently if the downloads button is in the main toolbar and you click it, it shows you a panel of recent downloads. If you customize the button into the Firefox (Australis) menu, I expected the list of recent downloads to end up in the submenu (the same place the help items and the history items end up). But instead it just opens the download manager.

Can recent download please be in the submenu?

This was intentional because the subpanel view is too small to show any meaningful info about the downloads (you'd basically just get some filenames. Which means you'd often need to use yet another interaction to get a useful view, so we just skip right there in the first place.

Typically the only thing I ever want to do with a download is open it right after it's finished downloading. That's so much harder now, it's really frustrating: it involves opening a window that I never want to see. Is there another way to make that process less terrible?

Hmm, maybe this would work better than I thought. We'd probably need to drop the "-- $when" from items, and make sure long filenames crop, but otherwise seems plausible.

Didn't realize this was already filed, but it's on the list of things that would be nice to have for post 1.0 fixes. Will probably require some thought WRT to the exact layout and information vs. the full panel.
