We'll need to update the channel prefs so they're on the release channel, and the mar channel prefs so they accept thunderbird-comm-release mars.

To repeat here what was in email:

This is a two-step update, first users will get a "channel changing
update" to 17.0.11esr which will change their update channel from "esr"
to "release", and also adjust the updater-settings.ini file to accept
release MARs. The second update is then from 17.0.11 to 24.2.0.

To test, first change your defaults/pref/channel-prefs.js file to use
"esrtest". You should get a small update which changes your update
channel to "release". After that, adjust your channel-prefs.js file to
use "releasetest" and you should get the second update to 24.2.0.
