- on both Win 8.1 Pro 32-bit and 64-bit
STR
1. Launch Metro mode
2. Open the About flyout and start the update
3. Click the restart button
ER: after step 3, Nightly should restart in Metro mode
AR: after step 3, Nightly doesn't restart in Metro mode, and even if I close it, it still remains visible as a working process in Task Manager (so I have to kill it from there). Also, when trying to open Nightly in desktop mode, I get the errors shown in the attached .zip file.

Note:
On Win 8.1 Pro 64-bit, I've also tried to uninstall Nightly and to reinstall it on the Desktop, but Nightly still failed to launch in Desktop mode, giving the same errors as above.

yes, it's a general nightly issue starting with today's build
