ICQ users can add many different information about them to their accounts. As a Pidign user i'm used to right click on a buddy at the contact list and select "Show info" to view those information.

I cant find an option or addon to do this with Instanbird but it would be really great to have. I don't know if this limitation is ICQ related because i don't use any other service.

This is not restricted to ICQ - XMPP has vcards for example.

One could also provide a larger (original size) version of the user's avatar image.

I never liked the dialog that appeared when doing that. Maybe we could integrate that somehow with our current tooltips?

That would be fairly easy, but also lead to quite big tooltips in some cases ;)

If you'd want to do this well, you'd have to go through protocol by protocol and filter/parse the requestBuddyInfo responses (a bit like what the IRC protocol does at the moment for whois).

There's a bug about interactive tooltips somewhere. If we had that, we could add an icon, button or link or something that extends the tooltip as it currently is to the one that has all information? A chevron icon like for contacts on the contact list maybe could be unintrusive?

Closing bugs related to the Instantbird UI as WONTFIX, as the development of the standalone chat client Instantbird has stopped. Instantbird users are encouraged to migrate to Thunderbird. The user interface of instant messaging in Thunderbird will feel familiar, as the Thunderbird IM support started as a fork of Instantbird.
