Tested on 2014-01-16 using latest nightly. I noticed that when you go from desktop to metro and back to desktop mode you can swipe from the left and it tries to open Fx in metro mode. Instead it opens a new window in desktop mode. It's related to bug 958994, and it at least makes it easier to get into that situation.

Steps:
1. Open Firefox Nightly in desktop mode
2. Switch to Metro mode
3. Switch back to desktop mode
4. Swipe from the left side

Expected: Any other application previously opened in Metro mode should come into view.

Actual: The Firefox Nightly splash screen comes up, as if it were trying to launch it in Metro mode, and after a second or so, it closes and takes you to the Windows Start page. If you go to the desktop it then shows Fx in desktop mode with an extra window.

I tried reproducing this issue with IE to answer Jim's question from Bug #968022 comment #2, adding the results here as the other issue was marked a duplicate.

Looks like IE is using a different approach. When you select "View in the desktop" under the metro environment, it opens the current website in a new IE window under the desktop and doesn't switch over the entire session. Every tap/click on "View in the desktop" in IE metro creates a new IE window on the desktop with the website that was being viewed.
