Amira, Melissa and I have also started to talk about scoping hi-lo versions of a Maker Party video based on what our budget might be. Amira, would you mind putting some of those thoughts into an etherpad and/or sharing here?

We decided this would live on the /party page so I'm trying to think of ways in which this can be an easy win. I would love to feature one of the videos from last year (storymakers or coderdojo or pittsburgh one) and maybe remix in Popcorn to give more context. Thoughts?

These would be event specific videos (like intro to webmaker or intro to maker party) that people play at the beginning of their event. We might need to flesh this out more and file a different bug? The timelines for this would be much later than the video that can live on the /party page. 

We discussed how individuals request welcome to Webmaker videos for their event and providing a video for people to play at the beginning of MP would be useful to some. Thoughts were:

Maybe hi-lo versions. So something more scrappy that's a Popcorn video we put together - maybe ask different folks to pop their heads in to say hi (perhaps we set up a booth at the April All-hands?) with an overarching why we're doing this campaign, why we're glad they're participating, reminder to share back.

Or, hire a crew to make something polished with great photos from last year and a more scripted/trained spokesperson - or other voices from across the community.

For the general Maker Party overview video we originally discussed, some of the videos above do a fantastic job of portraying large, Hive pop-up style events. One option would be to link to these videos on the party page, or remix them in Popcorn. Brooklyn Storymakers and Destination: Chicago even feature Mozilla staff and Maker Party branding. They could pretty much be used as-is, saving us the effort of producing our own video prior to July 15 (and perhaps allowing us to focus our efforts this year in collecting footage for a 2015 video).

What's missing is a representation of smaller hackjam or kitchen party-type events. 

As a next step, I suggest discuss our goals for the video. Do we need an overview of all the different events? Do we need a step-by-step 'how to throw a party' video? Do we need walk-throughs of X-Ray Goggles, Thimble & Popcorn specifically for Maker Party?

So many options! Let's review our goals for MP 2014 and decide what actually makes the most sense for the video(s).
