I don't know what you mean by 'post your crash ID'.
Do you mean the crash signature?
As this is my first bugreport for Thunderbird the ID should be '1'.
Crash Signature: My crashi-Id is 1.

Did you look at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozilla-crash-reporter#w_viewing-crash-reports ? It describes both the format of a crash ID (what it looks like), and how to find it.

I do NOT get such information described on the page that link points to. I just get a Windows message box
when I click on the attachment. I've made a screen shot and uploaded it to my web server. This is the
link to it: http://www.prodelphi.de/downloads/TextmakerTMDattachment.jpg
I think it would be a good idea to download the other file (http://www.prodelphi.de/downloads/unbenant1.tmd)
and send it to your own address as attachment and look what happens.

I can't reproduce.
Can you reproduce by saving the attachment rather than opening it?
How about in safe mode? i.e.
Start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
Still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode - http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/safe-mode
Does problem go away?

When I save the document and open it with Textmaker, there is no problem.
The problem also occurs in Windows and Thunderbird 'save mode'.
By the way: When I send an attachment with an extension Thunderbird does not know (e.g. XXX), Thunderbird
asks with which program to open it. This question is not asked when the extesion is 'tmd' (for
TextMakerDocument).
When I create a textfile with the editor 'Test.txt', rename it to 'Test.tmd' and send it and
when receiving clicking on the attachment, Thunderbird crashes (closed by Windows). This makes
clear: Thunderbird has problems when the extension is 'tmd'.
