New windows should inherit sidebar visibility from current window

I'm not sure, but it seems to me that the sidebar in a new window should inherit
the visibility state (either expanded or collapsed) from the window from which
it was opened. This is similar to how the toolbars *should* work as in Netscape
4.x. See bug 97617.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open two browser windows, A and B, with any page containing links in each.
2. Make sure the sidebars in both windows are expanded.
3. Collapse the sidebar in window B.
4. Right click on any link in window B and open the link in a new window.
5. Now right click on a link in window A and open it in a new window.
Expected Results:
Windows should inherit the state of the sidebar from which they were opened.
The window opened from B should have the sidebar collapsed. The window opened
from A should have the sidebar expanded.
Actual Results:
Both new opened windows have the sidebar collapsed.
Observations:
It appears that the new window inherits not the state of the sidebar in the
current window, but rather the last action taked regarding collapsing or
expanding the sidebar globally. Following this pattern with multiple new
windows has the same effect.
Doesn't this conflict with bug 76997=
(i'd much prefer the behaviour described there btw)
too quick.. there's another RFE that probably covers this bug:
