Will about:profiles?manage lose the restart options once it's landed? Those options don't work for me right now, but I noticed their absence in today's nightly about:profiles?manage.

The 'restart' option is shown only in about:profile when opened in a tab into FF.
I don't see the reason why you want to 'restart' FF from the ProfileManager.
Can you tell me an use-case for it? Or, was it supported by the previous ProfileManager?

That's not my experience (that the restart option is only shown when opening in a tab). 

I ask because until this fix lands (I don't see it in the 12-17 nightly built from https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/f143af51f6e35932927b8ccac2509facbbe7b539) when I start fx w/ -P the "About Profiles" window opens and, in addition to the problem reported in this bug (cannot select any of the profiles to start with), there is a "Restart" box in the top right corner offering to "Restart with Add-ons Disabled..." or to "Restart normally...". 

[I'm assuming this fix makes -P open about:profiles?manage instead of about:profiles?profileManager as it currently behaves.]

This doesn't look completely fixed. "Start Nightly" button doesn't open the profile set as default. "Open" button next to the profiles seems to work fine though.

The 'open' button is not there anymore. Are you sure you are testing the current patch?

Indeed, the 'open' button is gone in 46.0a1 (2015-12-22).
Anyway, my concerns are covered by bug 1233750.
