Setting "never email me about this bug" is painful (hard for bug reporter to stop receiving mail about a bug)

This option can probably be merged with the Follow button (to be renamed to Subscribe in Bug 1533587) on the header, like the Watch button on GitHub repository.

(Well, that’s already suggested here.)

This is one of the few remaining legacy UI decommission blockers. I’ll try to finish it.

I think a tentative solution that can be implemented before retiring the legacy UI is showing the checkbox in the view mode, not just in the edit mode, then changing the page layout so it can be found easily.
You know, notifications are difficult to handle because we have component watching and many other settings. We are going to have web notifications as well. I’d like to see a simple Unsubscribe button with a short explanation of why/how receiving notifications like GitHub in the future.

This is what I tried to create, but I’ve realized that it should say Subscribed if you’re watching the component or you’re the assignee of the bug, etc. so designing this kind of button goes beyond the scope of this bug.

I’ll reopen dup’d Bug 1317224 to show the “never email me about this bug” checkbox by default. I’ll keep this bug open so the idea of the Unfollow button can be implemented later.

I think the 'unfollow' button at the top of the show bug page implements this.
Please open a new bug if this change is not sufficient.

No, that button does NOT implement what I am asking. For example, I can't "unfollow" this bug!
Unfortunately, the bug's summary also got changed to completely hide what the bug was about.
Reopening, and restoring the original summary, but please let me know if you really would prefer I just file a new bug that's a clone of this one.
To be clear, this bug makes me a lot less likely to open bugs on things I might not care about updates on in the future...
