When a bug is marked as a dupe of another bug, the votes of the former should actually be counted for the latter. As it is right now, the number of votes does not reflect the voter's intend. pi
i can't find the right bug. this has been discussed before (you might read bug 27553) the problem is that if you do this then I can steal your votes by resolving bug A as a dupe of my prefered bug B, even if they are unrelated. transfering votes on verification (if verification was taken seriously) might mean something, but i'd really prefer for this discussion to continue where it has been in the past (and i can't find that...)

This bug is not a dup of bug 25950 - the summary of that one describes adding a single vote to the orininal when a bug is marked as a dup; this bug talks about transferring the actual votes from that bug. The comment at http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25950#c10 suggests how to maintain the votes as bugs are un-duped or reopened.

Still not a duplicate. The suggestions made in bug 25950 are relevant, but are not the topic of that bug. If you can't find a better location for this conversation, can we continue it here? The suggestion there was to inherit the bug votes of duped bugs at the time that the bug is viewed, so reopening a previously resolved duplicate will remove the extra votes.

I still think it's a dupe. I don't think both of these ideas is going to get implemented, and that bug is discussing which of the two is better. I'll go broaden the summary over there to indicate that.
