I regularly come across the issue that I want to locate people in my (huge) addressbook by a job classification. That's why I put specific keywords in the "Notes" field of an addressbook entry. It would be great if you guys could extend the search dialog with a "search notes" ability. tom

This bug is also in the Windows version of Mozilla. Really, I'd like to see the ability to search on _every_ field in the address book: Zip code, Notes, Custom 1, 2, 3, 4, Web address, etc.

Matěj, thank you very much for suggesting potential duplicates, which is most helpful and very welcome (feel free to CC me for such things, I'll be happy to give advice). In this particular case, as comment 0 mentions "search dialogue" in context of a "huge" address book, I think it's more likely that reporter is talking about "Advanced Address Book Search" dialogue (Ctrl+Shift+F in AB), so I'll duplicate against bug 184483 after tweaking that one as it isn't in a very good state either but it looks closest we can get. There might be intersections, but we need to carefully try and keep apart AB quicksearch bugs from AB Advanced Search bugs, because the UI and purpose is different. For AB quicksearch scenario of searching Notes field, that's covered by bug 298438 which currently requests to search the entire card.
