As the powers that be concerning Thunderbird have chosen to go down the web extensions route with the inevitable fallout of various addons no longer being updated.
Thunderbird developers et al, need to acknowledge their choice of direction necessitates they step up and start to enhance Thunderbird to cope with shortfall and do it with some haste.
One of those significant addon extensions was MoreFunctionsForAddressBook, which significantly improved and made the address book half decent.
Now, it is time to enhance the standard Address Book including all the options that MoreFunctionsForAddressBook used to provide.
Searches need to be on all aspects of the address book as people use the Address Book as a contact reference point which will include more data than names and addresses.
Please reset the priority and commence movement on this bug.
