It would appear that there is an incompatibility problem with something in
QuicktimeInternetExtras.qtx. There are approx 120 crashes spread over the most
recent releases. The stacks read only:

QuickTimeInternetExtras.qtx + 0x7a12e (0x66dea12e)

I'm guessing that the problem is out of our hands and is really an issue with
the Quicktime plugin. Is this a known issue?

cc'ing beppe and javi who have crashed this one in house.
I'll include some comments below in the hopes of finding a reproducible case.
Keywords: crash, topcrash
Somehow I got Quicktime set up as my default MP3 player and when I was listening
to an MP3 served from my rather slow DSL server at home, it would eventually
crashing.

Perhaps the problem is due to a buffering problem, I'm not sure. I'll give
someone the URL out of band. Don't wanna publish it here.
yeah, known issue. Jpatel had a bug on a similar quicktime crasher issue which
was marked 'wfm' or 'invalid', i think bcos of quicktime problem and not ours.
Ahh..it was about using older versions of qktime. Greer, is anyone mentioning
what version of QT plugin he/she is using?
beppe, what was ur qktime version? Greer, I cheched the list attached and there
in no mention of version.
this was in regards to bug 134704, see that for a location that made me crash.
MY QT is:

am adding this to the release notes bug , juat in case. Earlier, we had bug
106080( mentioned in the notes), which works now. Let's replace that one with
this one. ok?

from my experience with QickTime plugin. I think QT plugin is very bad intern of
dealing with "illegal content". I think Apple's QA didn't spend time to prevent
QT plugin solid when it hit "invalid content". Is there a way we can put the QT
plugin. (or any other plugin) into a seperate process so it won't crash the
Mozilla when it crash? I don't think there are any other solution beside that
one when we deal with "easy-to-crash" plugin.
Perhaps QT 6 may be able to deal better with these kinds of crashes...

It may be helpful to find out from these many Talkback reports what kind of
invalid content is causing QT to crash.
I just looked through a bunch of the urls in the attachment, some Flash
and some MP3, and didn't have any problems. I am much more likely to
be able to make the QuickTime plug-in 'solid when it hit "invalid content"' if
I can reproduce the problem(s), if someone sends me urls that crash for
them I'll see what I can do for QT 6.
Anyone testcase?
I have triedto recreate this....but am unable to get one..still trying.
I have not been able to recreate this either. IS this still coming up as top
crash in the last week or so?
There are only a few crashes on the Trunk, but Mozilla1.0 RC1 users are also
crashing with this stack signature, so it's still a topcrasher:

OK. I can reproduce the last link... Stack trace is not very useful. No exeption
caught either.
I went to (5357340)	URL: http://www.syncopated.net/solenoid/audio/boots
and crashed also on the last link. I launched that link in Opera (which brought
up Winamp) to play the mp3 (We Order Our Own Thang). IE6 crashed and burned
I take that back IE just forever to get going
k, this url crashes while I am opening the quicktime context menu and doing some
back/fwd clicking. I crashed 3 out of 6 times.
http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/high_crimes/

select medium size and while the movie is loading, right click inside it and
select 'Plugin settings' (let the window stay open) and do a bit of BACK/FWD
clicks 5-6 times and see the browser crash.
stack trace says :
   QuickTimeStreaming.qtx + 0x5ea23 (0x62c2ea23)

oops, trace is a different one, should I file another one?
i guess not..one time, with the same crash I got the
"quicktimeInternetExtras.qtx" trace.
Looking at the Talkback data though, most of the users who crash at
QuicktimeInternetExtras.qtx are crashing while listening to mp3's or audio
files.
Shrirang, when I crash with your steps I have always seen the
QuickTimeStreaming.qtx signature. Any chance you were doing something different
in your steps to get the signature in the summary?
Adding some folks who can tell me if this crash is in our control.

Greer, no, nothing thiat I can think of. I tried the same movie at different
times...once while no video audio was loaded...another time when the video and
audio was playing, actually. maybe that's how this one popped up.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.0.0+) Gecko/20020502

I made some tests with a.m Mozilla and QT5 - mozilla did not crash any more.
Lucky chance or progress, that is the question here.

Can anyone check that ?
no progress..daddy still crashes (0503 brnch win98/nt)

This crash seems to be happening in a seperate thread and the stack normally
posted is in the Plug-in thread and I am noticing there is a main thread
pointing at Messagepump.

my apologies, this is not the right bug report for the stack trace I've posted,
it belongs to bug 120815, because I crash on leaving the page with back button:(

We are aware of the issue and are working on a fix for the next version of
QuickTime.
We cannot move forward on this bug until the Apple folks release the next
version. Eric, would it be possible for us to get a pre-release to test this one
out, or could you have your QA folks test this out and comment here?

Just tested qktime6 preview with 0603 brnch and I crashed on loading this test
url (right clicked while loading). I crashed again with the same trace. Eric
(from Apple), was this preview release supposed to fix this ? Pls let us know,
Thanks !!
also, this bug popped up on adt's top crasher list to be fixed for rtm. Why is
it there since Apple has acknowledged the problem on their sie for this crash?
Can we remove the topcrash+ if this is not mozilla's bug?

no..don't reopen this unless apple releases the next version. Read His comment
carefully, this fix did not make it in the preview release ( which we all are
using right now). I will keep an eye on this...don't reopen.
