Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open a new mozilla window 2.click on the close button, i.e. the `X' button of the tabbed browser bar. Actual Results: the tabbed browser bar closed. Expected Results: it doesn't close.
Um, yeah. That's what's supposed to happen... See bug 150099.
Confirming this bug with build 2002062504 and WinXP. But I notice this bug doesn't exist if they are 3 tabs opened in a new window.

Uh, this needs to be reopened. I've read 150099 and that is the worst excuse for modifying a button's behavior I've ever seen. It is simply lazy and poor UI design. The button has an expected behavior and the fact that 5 people have now reported it as a bug should tell you that another method "quickly closing the tab bar" should be decided upon. For example place another button by the new tab button to close the bar. You simply do not overload a single action with multiple operations like this.

(I am the reporter of Bug 211620. Thanks to Matti for finding the relevant bug report for this issue, I searched for it but must have been using the wrong keywords.) I agree with Steve Lamb that WONTFIX is the wrong status for this bug. See my impassioned prose in support of this proposition at Bug 211620.
