Steps to reproduce:

Right click on a page element with a touchpad.

Actual results:

The browser loaded the history previous page.

Expected results:

I should have opened a contextual menu and be able to decide on which entry to click on.

Issue appeared with the last "hast security releases".

It's not the 1st time I suffer this behavior, you managed to fix it the previous times.

Current TOR Browser based on 60.6.1esr is not have this issue. I can popup a contextual menu from my touchpad without going back.

So you're reporting on Nightly, right? There aren't really security releases on nightly - it gets updated twice a day every day.

Can you reproduce the issue in Firefox's safe mode (Help > Restart with add-ons disabled) ?

Would you be able to use mozregression ( https://mozilla.github.io/mozregression/ ) to narrow down exactly in which nightly update this broke?

I also have this problem, and this bug maybe just show on xfce,(I meet this problem on xubuntu and ArchLinux), kde is well.
And only when you don't use titlebar(default for windows ) ,customize -> Title bar don't select it ,you can reshow this bug.

I've attached a recording of exactly what occurs for this issue.

Immediately after right clicking, the "back" button action is triggered without any other input other than the right mouse button being released.

This doesn't occur if the cursor stays dead still, but because the context menu appears so close to the cursor, even a couple of pixels of movement triggers the "back" action. To record this example, I deliberately moved the cursor more than is normally required to accidentally trigger.

Ideally this should be solved by preventing the "back" action from triggering on the right mouse button up, and only on a second click with the left mouse button. Another less ideal solution, would be to move the context menu further away from the cursor, to allow for more unintentional movement before triggering the "back" action.

This example was recorded using the latest stable Firefox 70.0.1 64-bit on macOS Mojave 10.14.6

I'm pretty sure the earlier comments are from people where this is happening when the cursor stays still, and that's why it was reported.

This is how context menus everywhere work. We could add some kind of timeout for the item right under the cursor but it'd be pretty tricky to make that long enough so people don't hit this accidentally, and short enough so it doesn't interfere with people who are fast but deliberate mouse users.

This example was recorded using the latest stable Firefox 70.0.1 64-bit on macOS Mojave 10.14.6

All of the other reports here are on Linux, and this bug is in the Linux widget (GTK) component, so I don't think what you're seeing is the same. If you think something needs to change with the generic mouse handling of right-mousedown+release, please file a separate bug.

It was built a few hours after the autoland commit, but not after the mozilla-central commit, and therefore won't contain the fix from this bug (the fix wasn't merged into the tree from which nightly was built until comment #20).
