Steps to reproduce:
- Create 2 email accounts
- Options > General > Uncheck the option for the Thunderbird Start Page
- Set View > Folders > Unified
- In Folder Pane click (unified) Inbox
- Close Thunderbird
- Open Thunderbird
Actual results:
The first email account under the Inbox dropdown is selected.
Expected results:
The selection should have been restored to the Inbox

Was broken on 76b3 (and possibly prior) as well. Works as expected on Release (68.8.0)
Workaround: Instead of unchecking option for the Thunderbird Start Page, change its location to about:blank.

Should be resolved now in Thunderbird 78.2.2 with bug 1629522.
