User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021015 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021015 When using a FTP or HTTP URL that point to a downloadable file, e.g. ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/mozilla-win32-installer-sea.exe, I get a popup with the error message "C:\temp\3visco9t.exe could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.". "Save Link Target as ..." works fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click on link to downloadable file or manually enter URL. Actual Results: Popup with error message. Expected Results: Offer to save the file
Wfm Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021002, perhaps some regression?!
Happens to me too with 2002101508 (and a build from a few days previous which I don't remember the id of), leaving me in the annoying position of having to use IE to download and test Mozilla. It seems to happen on all .exe files, and it started happening to me at the same time my bug 173771 started happening, so the 2 could be related. I'm wondering if this might have something to do with how OS registrations of actions for various MIME types are recognized by Mozilla. Also, it looks like this might be a duplicate of bug 174485. It may also be related to bug 173638, which I'm also experiencing (can't download files even using right-click->SaveTargetAs). I'm on WinXP, so it's not completely exclusively a Win2k issue.
Correction, "Save Link Target as ..." does *not* work for me. I got the "Save as" dialog, so I assumed it works. But no file gets saved, as documented in bug 173638.
Seeing as how this bug silently drops downloaded files, I would consider that loss of data, and therefore would suggest upping the severity to critical.
