1820004 - Message selection results unpredictable with 111.0b2

I selected 4 messages, 2 threads with 2 messages each. I either dragged them or used "Move again" to put them in another folder. The target folder ended up with 6 messages, which were also not correctly threaded.

My concern for this issue goes beyond my current experience. I worry that an action might occur on a message that the user has not actually selected.

I believe this is a regression in 111.0b2. I had no such issues with 111.0b1.

Will check nightly build, with the fix from Bug 1819795.

This issue may have been caused, or been made worse, by offline mode

I tested, with Daily 112a1 build 20230309233507 :

1. Select 2 messages of 2 threads in Message list, but not the top Thread ones
2. Tag them to identify them easily
3. Move them where there are not any messages of these thread
4. Wait a bit and/or change & comeback to the folder
5. Move them back to the original folder

I tried these alternative scenarios for step 1:

• Move just 1 message of 2 threads
• Move top thread message: one on two, two of two
• Move last received message: one on two, two of two
• Move middle tread message: two messages, one + top/last tread
• Move that results add messages to threads in the destination folder

Actual results:

• Step 3: none of these messages are shown (potential Perf issue)
• Step 4: All moved messages are shown, but without any tags, in message list & Message reader header. No other message of the same thread shown.
• Step 5: Tags not recovered. Sometimes (i.e.: experienced with top treads messages), they are shown shortly, but disappear (threads collapsed or expended).

Conclusions:

• It doesn't seem to be sensitive to :
  -- Top thread message
  -- Last tread message
  -- Top/Last thread message replacement in destination folder
  -- New threads / more messages of the sames threads in destination folder
  -- Number of moved messages

So, I wasn't able to reproduce it.

Nothing like the original report. Closing since no one else has reported. I'll reopen if I see something similar
