User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:102.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/102.0
Steps to reproduce:
I tried to search for all messages from one address, and move them to another folder.
Actual results:
After searching and opening the new tab, there was no button to "show results as list," so I couldn't read the results.
Expected results:
Users should have a way to read the results.
It seems to affect some searches, but not others. But when it does, the inability to "show results as list" and read the results makes search useless.
Mozregression couldn't finish, but it looks like
- The interface changed, and users had to scroll sideways to reach the button, after one of the changes here; none stand out:
- The interface changed again, and users could not do anything to reach the button, after ne of the changes here:
Part 2. appears to be bug 1686317, which was caused by bug 1572062. It was supposedly fixed, but is still broken.

Mid-air collision. I wrote the comment below without having comment 2 and comment 3 available. I'll file it anyway.
Marja, this works for me on TB 102.11.0, Win10.
- Are you using a screen reader? (sorry if I've asked this before)
- Are you able to see the screen with your eyes?
- Which exact version of TB does this bug occur on?
≡ > Help > About Thunderbird
- Please add exact steps to reproduce - it's easy to mix up all the different layers and ways of using Global search.
- Does this bug occur with
≡ > Help > Troubleshoot Mode…
? - Can you attach a bigger screenshot which shows more of the global search results? attachment 9333876 [details] is way too small to be useful. Black out private stuff as required.
Without further information which allows us to reproduce, there's nothing we can do here.
(This is unlikely to be a bug in TB, otherwise it would have been reported more frequently.)

After further investigation, confirming for TB 102.11.0, Win10 (and also seen on macOS Monterey 12.6).
Daily 115.0a1 (2023-05-15) (64-bit) also affected, but looks better (or maybe missed the exact scenario).
There's several things going on here (see screenshot).
- At some measure,
probably partly related toand apparently unrelated to the width/structure of the displayed time line, UI does get clipped at the right side without showing horizontal scrollbar. That's a bug. To make things worse, so far it's completely random and seems to change behaviour at any time for the same search. Surprisingly, toggling timeline off did not seem to change the behaviour. - Weirdly, on same version of TB (only difference I'm aware of is 32 bit vs. 64 bits), with UI already clipped on the right, sometimes the vertical scrollbar stays and sometimes it does not (red squares). That's weird and buggy.
- More weirdly, on the right (32 bit), I have two years in time line which do not have any messages (yellow square; even after clicking the year to zoom). That's another bug.

No.
Are you able to see the screen with your eyes?
Yes.

102, but it goes back into the '80s.
Please add exact steps to reproduce - it's easy to mix up all the different layers and ways of using Global search.
I think it depends on font sizes and screen resolutions. I know it depends on the exact search; I think a long text string in one of the results may cause the layout of the results list to stretch wider than the screen.
Does this bug occur with ≡ > Help > Troubleshoot Mode…?
Yes it does. I also get migraines from troubleshoot mode.
Can you attach a bigger screenshot which shows more of the global search results? attachment 9333876 [details] is way too small to be useful. Black out private stuff as required.
No.
