Steps to reproduce:

I moused down on a folder and dragged it past the top/bottom of the visible folders.

I'm running Thunderbird 115.1.1 in Manjaro XFCE.

Actual results:

The list scrolled up/down a few folders, then stopped. I couldn't find a position for the mouse pointer where scrolling became continuous.

Expected results:

I expected scrolling to become continuous after finding the right position at or near the top/bottom of the visible list. I would also want there to be a position where or beyond which the scrolling speeds up.

Do you still encounter this issue?

Do you still encounter this issue?

Yes, I'm still seeing it in 115.2.2. To clarify, it's possible to get the list to keep scrolling, just not continuously. I have to keep move the mouse pointer to get the list to scroll up or down a few more folders, which makes the scrolling much slower than expected.

Make that, "I have to keep moving...."

Thanks Barry. Do any of https://mzl.la/3PQWiJa match your issue?

Another factor, I am reminded that bug 1854338 is resolved by disabling HWA.
What happens if you disable hardware acceleration in Settings > General ?

No.

I might be seeing a bit more responsiveness with hardware acceleration disabled, but the scrolling still doesn't become continuous.

Barry are you still seeing this?

Tristan does this reproduce for you?

Yes, reproducible for me with Thunderbird 115.8.1 (64-bit) on openSUSE Tumbleweed / X11 / Plasma.

I seem to recall seeing a fix for this.

Still reproducible in Thunderbird 128.6.0esr (x86_64, openSUSE Tumbleweed, X11).

I can also reproduce this using ESR 128 and Daily on Debian/XFCE: You have to permanently move the mouse pointer slightly to keep it scrolling. This seems to be a Supernova regression on Linux, as ESR 102 works as expected. There is also no problem with ESR 128 on Windows.
