User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:124.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/124.0

Steps to reproduce:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/37/Big_Buck_Bunny_with_VTT_acid_test.webm

Actual results:

no audio

Expected results:

audio

Trying to use mozregression doesn't find anything and audio plays fine, so I'm not sure if it is an issue in my config or nightly itself.

Rebuilt my profile and have the same issue.

about:support pulse-rust says multiple codecs are not supported

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Audio/Video: Playback' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Audio/Video: Playback
Product: Firefox → Core

Thanks for the report!

HARDWARE_VIDEO_DECODING:
default: available,
user: force_enabled, Force enabled by pref,

media.ffmpeg.vaapi.enabled: true

is not needed anymore. It would force-enable hardware decoding, but it's aready enabled by default. You can set it back to false.

media.ffvpx.enabled: false
media.rdd-vpx.enabled: false

ffvpx (Firefox' internal minimal ffmpeg fork) decodes Opus.
Please [re]set them back to their default on about:config and restart Firefox. Then it should work again.

That did the trick! TYVM darkspirit

ffvpx is now always compiled in, this is part a rationalization of the codec
libraries we're using.
