Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030312 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030312 In the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings dialog, I selected Local Folders and changed the Local directory path to <mydrive>:\my mail\mozilla. However, the messages still get stored in <systemdrive>:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\6hwdqdts.slt\Mail\Local Folders. This same problem occurs when you change the Local directory path for a mail account (in this case and IMAP account) on the Server Settings page (<mydrive>:\my mail\mozilla, same as for Local Folders). Mail still gets stored in <systemdrive>:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\6hwdqdts.slt\ImapMail. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. click on Local Folders in the Mail & Newsgroups client 2. click on View settings for this account (under Accounts heading) 3. enter a new path in the Local directory field 4. click OK or 1. click on an account in the Mail & Newsgroups client (left pane) 2. click on View settings for this account (under Accounts heading) 3. enter a new path in the Local directory field 4. click OK Actual Results: Mail will not go to the selected folder. Expected Results: 1. Prompt/create the folder if it doesn't exist. 2. Move any existing messages/files from the old location (if present) to the new location. 3. Store all new messages in the new location.
This bug seems to only occur for the Default profile. I added a new profile and it created the appropriate directories under the chosen path and stores the files there correctly.
confirmified on WINXP
P.S. not fixed in nightly of Mozilla Thunderbird 0.5a (20031219)
Repeatedly and frequently reported Bug 2654 ? "Messenger(Mail and News)/General Mail and News" sention in "Known Isseus" chapter of Release Notes of almost all releases of Mozilla contains next paragraph. > In the Mail/News Account Settings: Server Settings dialog box, > any changes you make to local directory settings won't take effect > until you exit and restart Mozilla (Bug 2654)
Same as Thunderbird Bug 221202 ? > Bug 221202 Local directory textbox not visible See Bug 89212 also since Bug 221202 says that Bug 221202 was fixed by Bug 89212. > Bug 89212 Account Settings dialogs should be a fixed size, no scroll bars
Comment #5 is for other bug. Ignore please. Sorry for my mistake and spam.
I think this bug is related to bug #81355, if not the same bug. fyi, I have the problem regardless if it's my "Local Folders" account or changing the directory for my individual mail accounts.
Product: Browser → Seamonkey
This bug is still marked as unconfirmed, but as of the 20050325 Thunderbird nightly it still exists (I've got Windows XP SP2, and can't change the mail directory for the "Local Folders" account from "C:\Documents and Settings\Ryan\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\u2kom53j.default\Mail\Local Folders" to "E:\application-data\mozilla\thunderbird\mail\local-folders".
(In reply to comment #8) > but as of the 20050325 Thunderbird nightly That should read "20050525 Thunderbird nightly", sorry.
This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
