I was thinking today about one of the features Opera has: Buttons to turn images
on and off, or to switch from your colors to the page's. Well, what if you had
buttons for Javascript, Java, stylesheets, or even to switch from HTML 4.0 to
3.2. Or 2.0. Or to break the display of table widths. Or whatever HTML element
you feel like. To break it in a specific way.
This would be incredible for testing web pages. Imagine: *click* testing profile
1. *click* testing profile 2. And so forth.
Of course, this requires a modular display engine, which I understand Mozilla
has. And since many of these features are useful to people other than web
designers, I think it's worth it.
All some of it needs is buttons bindable to a boolean switch for a given feature
(Javascript for example). That's easy, and probably can be set up with the
current featureset. But the display engine changes.... that's more involved. And
more interesting. And more useful, from a web design standpoint.
Well, I think you get the idea. I'm going to stop talking now.

It would be relatively easy for a programmer to make their own button which
toggled a bunch of preferences, and it's a tough call whether novice users (who
couldn't write their own button) would need the same feature. However, it may be
combinable with bug 7380, if there was a toolbar for changing the zone of a page
on the fly. Interesting idea.

I don't think anyone wearing a Netscape badge would be doing this. You're
welcome to if you'd like.

Making this depend on bug 61710, "'Show images' button on toolbar" (which is
one of several buttons that would be added by this bug).
Depends on: 61710

I wouldn't mark it as a dup yet. These buttons may affect what appears on the
current page (perhaps only if the page is still loading), whereas many other
prefs don't.

This bug might be a dup of bug 15148 (or vice-versa).
