After uninstalling Firefox 0.9 from Windows XP Pro, several file types (html
most notably) were still associated with it. Even after changing the application
to IE, the icon of these files was blank. In addition, there were several
reference to Firefox in the registry. To fix this problem, had to bring up the
info on HTML file type from the Folder Options and manually change the
associated application from Firefox to Explorer.

Note: Didn't try to reproduce, happened the first time Firefox was uninstalled.

Changing summary (old summary: Uninstalling in Windows XP keeps files associations)

Please see the duplicate bug report in comment 1, the reporter is very upset
that this happened and understandably since it is not always simple to restore
associations. If there is anything the uninstaller can do to aid the process
then it would be good to do it, requesting blocking 1.0.

Why is this bug unconfirmed? Are we unsure that it's actually a problem?
