Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040626 Firefox/0.9.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040626 Firefox/0.9.1 I have a filter set up in thunderbird to scan for the spam assassian header and if found put the mail directly into the trash folder. This works without a problem apart from the following: When i receive a mail that goes straight to my trash i get the mail notification and the sys tray icon come up telling me I have a new mail, but this should not be shown for mail that has gone direct to the trash. Also, when I double click on the new mail icon it should take me to the folder that the new mail came to and then be removed, currently it does the following: I am reading mail in my inbox, minimize the client, then i get a new mail which goes into my trash. I double click on the icon and it restores the client and takes me to my inbox, however, it does not remove the sys tray icon until I then click on the trash icon to view it. It should take me directly to the folder that the new mail has been sent to and remove the new mail notification. This may be the intended way of doing it but in my opinion it is the incorrect way - io get a lot of spam and i do not want to knkow when i get a piece of spam, and I do not want to have to click twice to remove the extra icon in my systray. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Detailed above
I beleive this is a duplicate of Bug 91498.
This bug is almost identical to bug 248758; I'm guessing that Reporter is not marking the messages as Read when he moves them to the trash. (This can also be accomplished by using the Delete action, rather than Move To: Trash.) Reporter (tingle) please see bug 248758 comment 3, and either mark this bug as Resolved|Invalid, or as a duplicate of bug 11040 or bug 224573.
No response from reporter, duping. (In reply to comment #0) > I am reading mail in my inbox, minimize the client, then i get a new mail > which goes into my trash. I double click on the icon and it restores the > client and takes me to my inbox, however, it does not remove the sys tray > icon until I then click on the trash icon to view it. That's true -- bug 222068. > It should take me directly to the folder > that the new mail has been sent to and remove the new mail notification. That particular behavior is probably difficult, particularly if only some mail has been filtered -- what to do then? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 248758 ***
