Well, with today's build that's a blocker for me too.

OK, now that I figured out a work-around for the dependency bug 25432 (keep total number of cookies below 8), I am able to test out this bug with todays build. I see the problem. But it sure takes an awful lot of very fast clicking to get anything bad to happen. So I'm downgrading this bug by removing the M14 marking. Also asigning to Ben Goodger since he wrote the cookie viewer.

Ah, I've got a better way to manifest the problem which doesn't require any fancy footwork at all. Simply display the properties of a cookie and then click once on any of the text fields of the properties. Then select another cookie so that its properties get displayed. When the display changes, there's an awful lot of garbage text dancing around the screen until things finally settle down (the display is fine after it settles down). And the more times that you click on the properties text field, the longer this dancing text show lasts. Now this bug looks a little more serious since it's much more likely that a user will do this.

Starting to get dups on this one so it is getting serious. Marking as a beta1 candidate since cookie management is on the beta list.

did this work before? worksforme in 02/02 build (win98) I probably wont be able to hit this by 02/15, please re-evaluate the beta1 keyword.

Don't know if it ever worked before. Probably not.
Removing "beta1" nomination. We're not gonna fix this for M14.

This doesn't works-for-me (2/22/00). Here are the steps to demonstarte it: 1. Collect at least one cookie if you haven't already done so 2. Bring up cookie viewer (tasks/autofill/display-cookies) 3. Select any cookie by clicking on it -- cookie properties appear 4. Click on any text field of the cookie properties 5. Click again on any cookie Result: Entire display does a dance when you do the click at step 5. The more you click on text fields in cookie properties, the longer the dance lasts. In the extreme case the properties display gets destroyed until you exit and reenter the cookie viewer.

I have seen this bug affect linux/intel build M14-talkback-crypto downloaded fresh Mar 9, 2000. edit-prefs-cookies-view cookies. Random clicking in both the cookie name area and the display area cause moz to repaint the widgets really fast. They don't garble, but after palying with it I was surprised it wasn't garbled. Its a RH 6.1 box with gnome, sawmill, and none of the patches. :( Let me know at thm@duke.edu if I can provide more data. (should I have changed anything else? I left it as an "NT" bug.)

tever, morse: can you please retest this? some recent fixes in core layout may have made this go away.

Nope, this didn't "go away". It's still doing its dance.

sorry for this, but there's more: on mac os 9, build 2000 03 22 05 *after deleting some or all cookies only* if I attempt to select more than one cookie using 'shift' or 'command'-key (cause I expect the ui to do something like 'remove all') the displayed information changes to the cookie I'm hovering over but the highlighted selection stays the same ie. the original one.

See also bug 36942. These bugs are not dups but they may be related.

This is no longer a problem, at least not with the cookie viewer. The viewer has been rewritten so that it no longer uses html elements and as a consequence no longer demonstrates this flickering. Now it has other problems (bug 37650) but that's a different issue. This bug is not really fixed, but it no longer manifests itself in the cookie viewer. Therefore closing this out as works-for-me.
