Details
Users would like to be able to apply two sets of filters for deferred pop3
accounts, one for the originating deferred server, and one for the deferred to
server/account. This would also entail being able to define filters for the
local folders account, since in the global inbox, the deferred to account is the
local folders account.

Updating summary for searchability.
Summary: pop3 deferred accounts should have ability to run filters based on the deferred server and the deferred to server → pop3 deferred accounts (global) should have ability to run filters based on the deferred server and the deferred to server

I believe part of the solution should be as suggested here:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34973#c25
No more different filters for different accounts, but rather global filters in
which one can use the source account as a condition.
The problem with that is that if you just allow source account as a condition in
the list of ORs or ANDs, you'll only be able to have AND filters, which is no
good. Otherwise you could make the account choice separate from the ANDs and ORs
of the filter, which would work better but be a bit baroque.
I think ultimately <shameless pitch>the way to maximize the abilities and
flexibility of the filter system is to follow my suggestion here:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=198100#c19
</shameless pitch>
Because that way you get to define exactly the order and manner in which
messages are separated from each other in the filtering process (plus it solves
some other problems).

I just have 2 seperate imap accounts, and I do not use the local folders at all.
My message filters don't ever run automatically for either imap folder, unless
I manually click run filters on this folder. How do I make them automatic?

This and bug 257415 are both special cases of the more general problem I filed
in bug 294632: we should have filters that are defined on a per-folder basis,
and they should trigger automatically whenever a message arrives in the folder.
And I suppose 294632 is a special case of bug 59365, requesting more triggers
for filters in general.
Depends on: 294632

At least the pop deferred to localfolders case works fine on trunk 20050801...
what's left to fix here? pop deferred to pop? pop deferred to imap?
