found using 2005010304-trunk tbird on Linux fedora core 2.

the trunk build is horked: I can launch it, create a new account (I tried this
using a fresh profile), but there are a lot of problems:

a. no menubar (no menus).
b. folder and thread/message panes are blank (unable to view account or mail).

could this be due to the aviary landing? (couldn't find existing bugs, so far.)

not a problem on Mac OS X.

marcia or tracy, when the Windows build is available, could you see how that
behaves? thanks!
it's more general:

c. menubar also missing in addressbook.
d. AB card/list dialogs are teensy and blank.
e. unable to open mail compose window (just get error dlg that "an error occurred").
f. cannot open js console to see if there are errors; don't see anything useful
on the shell, either.
Component: Mail Window Front End → General
checking to see if this was a regression...
the builds didn't have this bug in 2004112505-trunk, but it's broken in
2004120505-trunk. there aren't intermediary builds available btwn those dates,
so I don't know if this is due to something else other than the aviary landing,
which occurred during that period.
WFM cvs trunk build at about 22:30 UTC (14:30 PST) About ID: version 0.6+
(20050103), on Linux Mandrake (10) with gtk1.

Note cvs build was not a clobber, but was updated to latest. Existing or new
profile both worked fine.
this failed for me for both of these profile scenarios:

a. creating a fresh profile with trunk build
b. creating a fresh profile with tbird-1.0, then relaunching with trunk build

perhaps there's something in optimized (nightly) builds that's causing this to fail?
Using today's Windows trunk build, I am unable to install Thunderbird at all
using the .exe or the zip file, so I can't confirm what Sarah sees.

I can confirm seeing this on the Windows side using
http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/nightly/2004-12-05-06-trunk/ build. I
see the same thing that Sarah reports after creating a new profile - no menus
and everything is blank.
I failed to mention that the Windows build that I downloaded today may be an
*old* build, according to Chase. He is going to spin another build, and I will
check that one when it comes out.
OS: Linux → All
I have had similar issues on all Windows trunk nightlies for at least a month now.

hm, could this be a dup of bug 272621?

Sorry, but I may have mislead you here - I ran this from within the source tree
directories, I didn't try installing it.

I have just tried the installation, and yes it fails in the manner described.
this first patch has been checked in.

Now to land the aviary entity changes for mozilla\mail on the trunk to fix the
next set of trunk problems.
I just verified that the Windows installer and ZIP builds are now useable again
after my locale landing on the trunk today. Hopefully that fixed linux and Mac
OS X too.

Thanks for the patch. I was waiting for it to use thunderbird trunk build.

So now, what not bumping version number from 0.6+ to 1.0+ ?

Thanks again !
ONe remaining nit ont he windows build. In the Size filed, instead of
displaying the file size it displays the string "kiloBiteAbbreviation"
The import of mozilla/mail/locales/en-US/chrome/messenger/folderProps.dtd for
this bug from AVIARY (comment 14) appears to have caused another problem

Right click->Properties on a mail or news folder opens the props window with the
error:

XML Parsing Error: unidentified entity Location:
chrome://messenger/content/folderProps.xul Line Number 75, Column 9: <label
value="&folderProps.name.label;" for="name" --------"

This folderProps.dtd is in en-US.jar instead of
mozilla/mailnews/base/resources/locale/en-US/folderProps.dtd where the entity
definitions for folderProps are.
fixed errors in comment #17 and comment #18

closing this bug out for now. Feel free to keep reporting any more entity errors....

how is this fixed? my folderpane and messagepane are still blank with trunk
build from january 10

Strange, it works fine here (Linux). I had to delete XUL.mf(as)l, though.
Another regression is that all the menuitems are shown in the context-menu on
links in e-mails (not only the relevant ones). I guess that should be a
different bug.
I've tried using:
version 0.6+ (20050113)

created a new profile and still no account, folder or message pane.

Windows XP
if I double click in the folder pane the new window I get has the accountpage,
message pane etc.
But the first window doesn't work.
I also can click on any of the menues like "File", "Edit", etc.
The buttons works ok.
Rightclicking on the "File" or "Edit" menu gives me the "Customize..."

perhaps some kind of overlay is laying on top of the menu?

notice the customize that appear on top of the menu
gemal I'd suggest asking around in the forums for help with your problem. Many
people have been downloading the Windows build since I fixed this and no one
else is still having this problem. I suspect it's something on your end.
