The UMO side of bug 257155.  The install.rdf parsing part is done in the patch
I'm about to attach to bug 271272, we need the database support etc.

Remora does support localizable descriptions, but not via install.rdf. From reading the updates to bug 257155, which is now being worked on in bug 285848, no install.rdf format has been decided on for this yet, so there's not really anything to be done for this bug at this time.

This is a vital feature for Japanese users. Most of them cannot read the English description.

Kohei: as Justin said above, Remora supports localizable descriptions, just not via language-tagged elements in install.rdf.  Is that sufficient to at least mitigate the problem for most Japanese users?

Moving this back on the radar. Won't be finished before Firefox 3 is launched, but will try to include in the developer control panel revamp sometime in the first half of 2008.

This is not really valid anymore. install.rdf names and descriptions are only used for initial submission, and generally need to be edited in any case.
