313725 - Mail Subject lines of chain messages all change to parent post subject, instead of "RE: subject" it appears as "subject"

This bug has been eludeing me but I have been wittnessing it for quite sometime, since, the fixes for bug 246966 landed.

What I am seeing in version 1.5 Beta 2 (20051006) and more currently branch nightlies is subject headers that change to their parent post when I open a sub folder that I created to store messages for a specific news group, such as gtk+.

The mail subject lines might be for example, "Japanese Display for gtk+-1.2.9"

So say I recieved 4 messages for this:

"Japanese Display for gtk+-1.2.9" the parent post and four followup posts that would have "Re: Japanese Display for gtk+-1.2.9" in the subject line.

What I see happen when I click on my gtk+ sub folder is each followup post subject  line changes to the original parent post subject line "Japanese Display for gtk+-1.2.9".

The problem persists too, so even if I restart thunderbird each time I open it the subject lines are still mangled.  It really only appears to happen when a parent post and multiple child posts are recieved at the same time. After the parent post has been recieved follow up posts that are loaded later don't get altered.  Also, the issue is local to the profile that first viewed the mail, for example, if I open thunderbird on windows machine i'll see the problem. If a minute later I open it on mac, I won't see the same problem duplicated.  If I had opened it on mac first I would have seen the problem there, but not on windows.

Todd, could you please check if the issue still occurs in the latest supported Thunderbird 2.0.0.x or trunk nightlies?
