Details

Seen with TB version 1.5 Beta 2 (20051006) under windows. When you create a new identity for an existing account the entries inside the outgoing server combobox aren't initialized correctly. You will only have the opportunity to select the default server. All other servers aren't listed. When you press Ok to close the panel and reopen it, all outgoing servers are listed. All server entries should be visible when you create a new identity.
Problem is recreated with Seamonkey 2005110310-trunk/Win-2K. Probably Core issue. Unchoosable SMTP is a retrogression, but setting "Always use default SMTP" instead of "specific SMTP server which is set as default SMTP" is a small advance :-) By the way, could you put a word of "SMTP" in summary for ease of search?
Same also happens for my Linux build. Do SeaMonkey and TB use the same code here? If yes we could change the product/component. Otherwise we should file a new bug for the Seamonkey issue.

Summary: When creating a new identity outgoing server entries are not initialized → When creating a new identity outgoing SMTP server entries are not initialized
Seamonkey 1.0b on WinXP: Upon first account creation the wizard offers the "global smtp" checkbox, and allows to set the smtp server upon creation, does it right. When making a second email account it still offers the checkbox, but does not allow to set an smtp server, no possibility to type it in. It should be grayed out and be the default server until the checkbox is unchecked, and then allow an smtp server to be specified (list of existing smtp accounts if wanted, not needed for my cases). IF the "new" servername is the the same as an existing one it should create the smtp server anyway, because different mailaccounts on one smtp server require different smtp-auth infos (in my case: gmx.net, in other cases: web.de t-online.de popmail.t-online.de etc etc...). I am VERY happy to see that one annoyance is gone and I can select the outgoing server by nickname / dropdown list (afterwards), and without the "ssun" addon.
This is similar to bug 315057. Still a problem in 1.5RC2 and 1.6a1. (In reply to comment #3) > Upon first account creation the wizard offers the "global smtp" checkbox The checkbox is unrelated to "SMTP" -- it's for "Global Inbox". > When making a second email account it still [...] does not > allow to set an smtp server, no possibility to type it in. Bug 170520
Seamonkey bug 323723; I expect this actually a Core bug. That bug has some troubleshooting that identifies the problem.
The suite bug has been fixed; if someone can verify with today's trunk that it's also fixed in TB, please mark this as a dupe of bug 323723.
Yes, it is fixed for version 1.6a1 (20060114) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 323723 ***
