Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; Win 9x 4.90; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) Build Identifier: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-trunk/thunderbird-3.0a1.en-US.win32.installer.exe I grabbed the nightly build to diagnose another bug when I discovered this bug(ironic!). So I installed it into it's own folder, following the directions here to file a bug report: http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderbird/bugs. I tried to create a new profile by opening the Profile manager shortcut on the start menu, and I got two error messages (almost at the same time, but one was under the other). The first one was: "The THUNDERBIRD.EXE file is linked to missing export USER32.DLL:UpdateLayeredWindow." The title bar for the window was "Error Starting Program" The second error message was: "C:\Program Files\Thunderbird 3a1\thunderbird.exe A device attached to the system is not functioning." So, I tried to run Thunderbird itself by using the shortcut on my desktop (now I realize that the profile manager is nothing more than thunderbird started with a different parameter) and I got the same error messages. Thank you for your time. Reproducible: Always Windows ME with all the latest patches available via WindowsUpdate. Pentium III coppermine 866Mhz 512MB SD133 RAM Geforce 2 MX 400
