User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0
Build Identifier: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-trunk/thunderbird-3.0a1.en-US.win32.zip (30-Nov-2006 05:06 PST)
I open a simple message from an IMAP folder, from me (using default identity) to another user. When I forward that item, the compose window From line defaults, inexplicably, to one of my other identities.
If I copy that message to my Local Folder store, then forward that local message, the correct (default) identity is used for the From address.
I'll note that I see no X-Account-key or X-Identity-Key in the message header.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set up empty profile pointing to imap store as in attached prefs.js. Profile contains two identities, a default me@mycompany.com, and test123@yahoo.com.
2. Select attached message from IMAP folder. Message is from me@mycompany.com.
3. ctrl-L to forward message
Actual Results:
"From" field in compose window is set to test123@yahoo.com.
Expected Results:
From line in compose window was expected to be from me@mycompany.com (either because that is who the original message is from, or because it is my default)

I apologize that the example files have been munged to mask user e-mail addresses (for privacy reasons). The steps to reproduce are therefore merely indicative.

I do see a similar Problem:
One Account, two identities. Primary identity john@doe.com, Secondary identity john@usa.com
If i want to Reply-To or Forward to an Email containing usa.com Recipients, the john@usa.com identity is automatically selected.
I wouldn't mind that, but if i change the identity used in the Compose window, i'm unable to enter any recipients anymore until i change back to the identity it which has been selected automatically.
Experienced with Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 (20070728) on a Windows XP Professional.

Cc-ing to Magnus Melin.
I think Bug 377988(confirmed by you on 2007/4/30) is better to be closed as DUP of this bug.

It was Bug 377998 (sorry for mis-operation and spam)

This may be a bit shorter, but as we have duped other bugs to bug 377998 and have more people interested in it there, have more discussion about it there, I'd rather dupe this one.
