User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3
Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.0 (20070326)

When sending and E-mail using an AOL account, Thunderbird sends the E-mail successfully but the "Sending" window freezes on "Copying message to 'Sent' folder". I have to cancel the message sending, although the message is still sent. Also, the E-mail still shows up in the AOL Sent Items folder.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Send E-mail using an AOL account in Thunderbird.
Actual Results:
The E-mail sent, but the problem occurred exactly as I described.

Expected Results:
The "Sending" window should have closed soon after sending the message.

This occurs with my E-mail and my mother's. We both use AOL E-mails.
Summary: Thunderbird hangs copying message st sent folder after sending using AOL account → Thunderbird hangs copying message to sent folder after sending using AOL account
Version: unspecified → 2.0
I am experiencing the same issue. It is a pain to compose an email, send, then cancel the 'Copying to Sent folder' every time.
I think this is a dupe of 381867. Could somebody mark it as a dupe if you agree with that?

Marco
I have the same problem consistently, too. Any ETA on a fix? It's frustrating enough to make me go back to, heaven forbid, Outlook Express. From looking at these comments, it looks like this has been persistent for at least six months for all AOL mail users.

Don't know if this is a dupe of bug 381867. Get an imap protocol log for anlaysis, http://www.mozilla.org/quality/mailnews/mail-troubleshoot.html#imap

I have this problem sometimes with my yahoo business account. It is annoying.
Thanks all, but not processable without a log. Please supply a log so we can move forward

It looks that IMAP client can create folder under "Saved" only.

To Alex:
(1) For Trash
(1-a) Use other than "move to Trash model".
(AOL's recommendation is other than "move to trash", isn't it?)
(1-b) When you want to use "move to Trash model".
      See http://kb.mozillazine.org/IMAP_Trash_folder
and create prefs.js entry for Trash ("Saved/Trash" or something).
(1) For Sent
(1-a) If you can use "Sent Items" (seems to be standard sent foler of AOL).
At "Other:" for "Sent" at Copies&Folders, select "Sent Items" folder.
(1-b) If you want to use other than "Sent Items".
At "Other:" for "Sent" at Copies&Folders, select "Saved/SavedIMs".
Terminate Tb, edit prefs.js, change "Saved/SavedIMs" to "Saved/Sent".
      Restart Tb, Send a mail.
=> "Saved/Sent" is probably created and subscribed.
If not, restart Tb, and subscribe it.
> Also, the E-mail still shows up in the AOL Sent Items folder.

When mail is sent via AOL's SMTP, sent mail looks to be saved in "Sent Items" automatically. Is "copy to Sent folder" option by Tb really needed?
some of this described in first couple paragraphs of http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_AOL_and_AIM_mail ... I wonder it needs improvement?

David describes this in bug 271941 comment 1 which is the oldest I find. I suggest we close this INVALID and dupe 271941 and bug 277611 forward.

non-aol users must look elsewhere for answers

bienvenu, wada, is INVALID appropriate here?
I think we should add an autoconfig file for aol e-mail address to set things up for them correctly. But yes, I think INVALID is OK for this.
