I just talked to Mike Connor (lead Firefox engineer) and he said that we could take the code up to the end of year and it would still have a chance of passing review and landing. He would like the implementation initially packaged as an extension, so we can play around with the functionality prior to landing it on trunk.

Also, while the end of the year is the final deadline, delivering the extension sooner increases its chances of being integrated into Firefox 3, since that will give us more time to find people with free cycles to do the review and QA on it.
I'm adding icons for Podcast and Video podcast to the icon inventory at 16x16, 24x24 and vector, in case we need them. Currently these are scheduled for Icon Milestone 3 (2/15). I think these icons should be in the set that we release into the public domain to drive adoption of common iconography.
I submitted a patch for 303645 which populates the enclosures array. I think I can package the rest of the functionality into an extension, but it's possible I'm wrong.

Regardless, I'm pretty much out of time at this point and I don't think I can it done before the end of the year. I'm from the 23rd to the end of the month. I can work on this at the beginning of January, but there are still some architectural things that need ironing out that haven't been ironed out yet.

Is there enough time in the timeline to get an extension... perhaps until mid January?
>I can work on this at the beginning of January

The freeze date for beta 3 is 1/22. I don't know if we will be able to find someone to review the changes in time to land them for the next beta, but the earlier you submit patches the better.

If this doesn't make it into Firefox, I would really like us to consider releasing it as a featured extension at launch.
This was a tracking bug for Firefox 3 development, resolving. Nice work Will!
