User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11 Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.9 (20071031) When composing email, when also, "send to an existing" folder, autosave, creates multiple copies in "Drafts" folder. When sending message, only one of these is deleted, and multiple copies are stored in "send to" folder. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Compose a new email. Add To: and one or more lines of text in the body 2. Wait until autosave, save a copy in the Drafts folder. 3. Note time on saved image - now "SEND a copy to local folder" - Options -> Send copy to - (select any folder) 4. Wait for next autosave .. or several autosaves 5. Autosave will create multiple drafts. 6. Send the message. 7. Only one draft will be sent, but rest remain in DRAFTS folder 8. Multiple copies will be placed in the folder you selected in #3. Actual Results: As described Expected Results: Only one copy in Drafts, and only one in "Send to folder"
Are you using IMAP? are you using gmail? How recently have you seen this?

I am using POP servers. I have several email accounts and all show the same results. gmail is one pop server, Apache James is another. I just noticed it with this version. I migrated my wife from 1.x? to 2.09 and Win2000 to XP. She is the one who uses the 'Send a copy to" feature. She only noticed it with 2.09 on XP. If it will help, I will recover the WIN2000 image, and test under the older 1.x version. This happens prior to sending. You will see several 'versions' of drafts. It only happens when 'send to a copy' is selected and autosave fires. It seems then, autosave does not replace the existing copy in drafts, but rather creates a new one.
Just ran test one more time. Verified, as described and that as each new copy is created in the Drafts folder, a duplicate is created in the 'send to ' folder.
Note sure.. do know it on two different computers, XP SP2, it fails everytime as I described before. Tomorrow, I will try on a Linux based machine.
I recovered the system to what was being used before we saw the problem. The restored system is a WINDOWS 2000, Thunderbird, 1.5.0.14 (20071210). In this system, mail.compose.autosave was false! I reset it to true and he same problem manifested itself. .. multiple copies in the draft folder, if 'Send to' was selected everytime the mail.compose.autosaveinterval is exceeded.
Same results under Fedora 6 with Thunderbird version 2.0.0.9 (20071031)and version 2.0.0.0 (20070419)
Confirmed with version 2.0.0.6 (20070728), imap - didn't test trunk. After send, one copy left in drafts, multiple copies left in target local folder xref bug 195478. Perhaps a dupe of bug 382517

As Magnus and I wrote in Bug 382517 Comment #9 & Bug 382517 Comment #10, problem with local mail folder(POP3) can not be observed(i.e. WORKSFORME) when trunk. To jay(bug opener): Can you re-produce problem with latest trunk? You can test trunk by unzip only. - Go http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-trunk/ - Download ZIP build for Win32, and unzip it - Start Tb with "thunderbird.exe -P", create profile, define dummy POP3 account - Enable auto-save, compose a mail, "Send Later" instead of "Send" (In reply to comment #8) > Confirmed with version 2.0.0.6 (20070728), imap - didn't test trunk. Gmail IMAP? If yes, see Dependency tree for meta Bug 402793(with "Show Resolved"), please. If no, can you re-produce problem with latest-trunk?
Downloaded ../latest-trunk... http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-trunk/thunderbird-3.0a1pre.en-US.win32.zip Created dummy pop accounts set autosave to 1 min (tools->options) created folder under account named "blah" Started composing email .. added to:, subject:, some text set "Options->send copy to->blah" .. after 30 seconds, a single copy was in my Drafts folder. Waited 5 minutes. only one copy was saved in my DRAFTS folder, however, when I 'canceled' the message, selecting "Don't save" it was saved anyway in DRAFTS folder. Does not save in folder 'blah'. Tried a second time. Same results, 'cancel' does not remove from Drafts folder. On second attempt BUG is still there! create new mail, to:, subject: body: options->send to folder ->blah) after 1st timer, on copy appears in Drafts, wait more (1?) timer, add a little more text, a new second entry appears in DRAFTS, then you get a new entry in drafts for next timer.. if you enter nothing, you get no more entries. But if you add more text to new note, you get a additional draft in folder..wait several timer periods. I now have 5 drafts of original note in DRAFTS folder. Multiple copies are left in folder blah!
(In reply to comment #10) > I now have 5 drafts of original note in DRAFTS folder. It's phenomenon of Bug 382517 Comment #5, isn't it? # Bug 382517 Comment #9 & Bug 382517 Comment #10 may have been for # phenomenon/problem of Bug 382517 Comment #8 only.
It does look like Bug 382517 .. It still is still in latest build, comment #10.
