You can highlight multiple messages with Ctrl+Click, or for a range with Shift+Click, then select Message > Archive (keyboard shortcut is 'A'), so this is already possible without much effort. A toolbar icon for the archive function is proposed in bug 480470. Right-click context menu item is bug 473214. Thus, this bug is either "works for me" or a duplicate of those bugs.
