Hum : Code Type: PPC (Translated) Parent Process: launchd [89] Date/Time: 2009-12-14 12:05:38.207 -0600 OS Version: Mac OS X 10.6.2 (10C540) You are not running he native code but the PPC one. Can you re-download an try reinstalling ?
I AM running the "native code" or the one offered on the Thunderbird site as the new version 3. I have re-installed over 5 times. I do not know what PPC means. This is a NEW MacBook. I am loading NEW software fresh from the Thunderbird site. I would love for this work for my mac since I have used Thunderbird since it was Eudora.... please help! Mark Robbins Please reply
I'm trying ;-) When you reinstalled did you redownload too ? PPC means PowerPC which used to be the processors in mac a few years back - these days it's intel and our builds are intel compatible. so I'm trying to figure out why this seems to be hapening. Where did you download Thunderbird from ?
Blocks: 517646
The Macbook was built on Nov 13, 2009. It was delivered with OS and basic software. The first thing I did was download & install Firefox. Next thing I did was download and install Thunderbird straight from the Mozilla site. Installed according to 3 step insctruction screen. I see the Thunderbird try to start by putting a tool stripe at the top of the screen, 3-4 seconds later the crash and error message occur. Yes I have re-downloaded and re-installed a number of timesm same effect,
(In reply to comment #4) > Yes I have re-downloaded and re-installed a number of timesm same effect, thanks for the Feedback. can you try one more thing -> remove ~/Library/Thunderbird ? it's a folder. And removing the security flags as this bug ain't about security for now.
Group: core-security
Removed folder. I do not know how to remove security flags. Rebooted Mac. Re-downloaded Thunderbird 3. Installed. Invoked. Same thing, toolbar top line appears, I count to 4 and the error pops up freezing thunderbird. Tsk. Other mail programs are loading without problems or incident. Just wanted to mention it to the team because I took a virgin machine out of the box, Thunderbird and Firefox were the first things I downloaded after plugging in for the first time. Firefox runs great. Thunderbird will not load. It Crashes every time. Please have the Mac developers have a look please. Mark
Josh any idea why we are loading a PPC binary on a Intel box ?
I would sure appreciate a note if/when you guys are able to fix this bug. mark@studiocerebral.com

Will someone send me a "fixed" version after recoding to I may test it and see if Thunderbird finally loads on a new white mac notebook? mark@studiocerebral.com

I don't know why this is happening.
alltexanmusic@gmail.com, if you select Thunderbird in the Finder and Cmd-I (or "Get Info" from the Finder's "File" menu), is "Open using Rosetta" checked? If it is checked and you uncheck the box, does Thunderbird launch OK?
I unchecked it and launched it. Crash reporter came up with this: We're Sorry The application had a problem and crashed. Unfortunately the crash reporter is unable to submit a report for this crash. Details: The application didn't leave an application data file.
Mark, is this bug different in some fundamental way from bug 547468? we still need a stacktrace. instructions at https://developer.mozilla.org/En/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_for_a_bug_report#Mac

I am just an enduser who reported this, hoping some of the gurus on here had a programming fix. I have done this step about 20 messages and six months ago. You cannot duplicate it by walking in to a clean MacBook and trying to install Thunderbird yourselves?
Regretfully, I and others haven't experienced this on a clean or otherwise MacBook.
I'd be happy even just to have a Mac. I don't :) Item 1, it's not clear that a *programming* fix is what's needed. And even if that's what's needed, there can't be a fix without understanding what is the cause of the crash. And we don't have that piece of the puzzle. Item 2, if you can still reproduce this issue, you are the best possible testcase and source of information available. So your help is crucial until the cause is identified. Item 3, as in bug 547468, why is a PPC running on an intel box? what URL did you download thunderbird from? Item 4, do you still see the problem if you use version 3.1.1? Lastly, I repeat, how is this bug different in some fundamental way from bug 547468? (It seems to me there is no difference)

smichaud, ludo, is there a connection to Bug 529463 - [apple] arithimetic exception in gettimeofday ? gettimeofday was cited in Bug 547468

> smichaud, ludo, is there a connection to Bug 529463 - [apple] > arithimetic exception in gettimeofday ? I think that's very unlikely -- the symbols in the crash stack in bug 547468 comment #3 are probably mostly (if not entirely) spurious.

If you still see this, I guess the next thing to try is a new profile and report results. Don't delete the old one. http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Using+Multiple+Profiles
