540223 - all panes blank after update to 3.0 through menu, crashes

crash on closing tbird and sometimes on starting it.
in earlier version of tbird, mail was there with all its folders and accounts.  now only accounts are there, all panes blank (but menu is there).
checked appdata directory, files are there.
tried deleting the .msf files to no avail.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.install and update to latest 2.x version of tbird. get mail and setup accounts.
2.through menu, do update to tbird 3.0.
3.
Actual Results:  
crashes and blank panes.  complains about kaspersky 2009 tbird extension and lightning extension not being compatible. offers to upgrade to later version of lightning.  refuses to allow me to uninstall kaspersky extension.

Expected Results:  
expected everything to work like before.  the new lightning extension didn't work.  pane I think was also blank.

what do I do?

the instruction at "0x00487e21" referenced memory at "0x00000024". the memory
could not be "read". cilck on OK to terminate the program

You are the comment poster of bug 393133 comment #6, and I posted bug 393133 comment #7.
(Q1) You opened this bug. Does it mean your problem occur even with clean install of Tb 3.0 and with new profile?
(Q2) I already pointed bug 533692 in bug 393133 comment #7. But you refers to  kaspersky in this bug. Does it mean that your problem with kaspersky occurs even after fix of bug 533692?

thank you for showing me that bug.  I posted a workaround for the bug that fixed my machine. bug 533692 applies.

I got kaspersky extension/component out of the way, yet I still have crashes on shutdown.
thunderbird.exe - application error
the instruction at "0x00487e21" referenced memory at "0x00000024". the memory
could not be "read". cilck on OK to terminate the program

maybe this is not entirely a duplicate bug after all. we still have a persistent tb 3.0 crash to resolve.  how do you want to proceed with that?

File a new bug. If the crash reporter show up make sure to add crashid to that new bug (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad).
