Open a new mail message (Ctrl+M). Once it is open, there are two blinking
cursors: one in the "To:" field, and the other in the message body. Typing
puts text in the "To:" field, but the second cursor in the body does not go away.
Bug no longer occurs. Need more info. Letting it drop for now....

This is an OS/2 only problem. Seems to be related to the focus model. We're
looking into it.

*** Bug 115068 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Look at bug 147077 for a similar behaviour, but under Linux and with a different
position of the carets.

More info on this.
I've looked at the focus code and it is definitely NOT focus related. OS/2 and
Windows have exactly the same focus path.
It only happens with HTML compose, not plain text compose.

Something must have changed recently. I just verified that only one comes up in
text composer, but it wasn't that way last time I checked, probably less than a
week ago. If stuff like bug 4302, bug 118899, bug 54911, bug 148267 and a bunch
of nuisance bugs were fixed I could use mailnews routinely instead of just
checking for bug fixes occasionally.

Fix for problem. We weren't bailing early enough in our draw code, so we were
drawing an unecessary line.

Javier, we don't have an OS2 system to verify this fix, could you please verify
this is fixed on the latest branch build. Thanks, Esther

2002071708 OS/2 trunk
This does not look fixed to me. I hit Ctrl-M and get a text compose window with
no apparent focus anywhere - no cursor anywhere in the window.

Very strange: It works for my existing profile, so I opened created a new
profile. I press Ctrl+M, which brings up a messenger window and the Messenger
wizard to enter account information. I entered the info for a newsgroup
account, and there was no cursor anywhere. So I entered an email account, and
now the cursor shows up correctly. So I created a new profile again and only
created an email account. Cursor appears correctly. So it doesn't work if you
only have a newsgroup account. Reopening for now.

Wait, you are getting no cursor at all?
That's a different bug.
Javier, check windows.

Playing hookie from your vacation Mike?
No cursors at all yesterday with Ctrl-M, just the one today where it belongs in
the to field on either clicked icon or Ctrl-M, mail folder or news folder, old
profile. 2002071808 OS/2 trunk.

If this problem reoccurs, you reopen the bug.
If a regression is caused, open a new bug and point to this one.
The new problem is a completely different problem.
Javier, could you back out my fix and see if it resolves this issue?
Please open a NEW bug.
Thanks

On Mac 10.1.3 recent few days branch builds - I see 2 cursors sometimes - using
keyboard or mouse - can not get the scenario to reproduce.

Note: on window xp we're seeing 2 flashing cursors in a mailto message window
(bug 147077). These bugs may be related.

Note: I found the reproducible case for similiar bug 147077. That bug is
specific to plaintext compose window with a signature attached using mailto
links. It is not a dup of this bug which originally reported scenario using
Ctrl-M on OS/2. The original scenario in this bug is not reproducible on winxp
and linux. Unfortunately, this bug has new scenarios listed (comment 19 & 20)
which should have been logged as new bugs (comment 21). Comments 18 & 22 verify
this bug, as originally reported, as fixed on OS/2 systems on branch. Comment
23 indicates seeing only one cursor (correct behavior) with the trunk build
dated 7-18 so I will keyword this verified1.0.1 Note: comments 25 & 26 are
seeing bug 147077.
I will look to see if the new scenario (no mail accounts setup cause no cursors
in Ctrl+M) is logged and if it occurs on winxp, mac and linux platforms too. If
someone already logged the bug please note it in this bug. thanks.
