579521 - [meta][project] Location Bar and Site Identity

Description

This is a meta tracking bug for all changes related to Firefox's location bar and site identity UI.  A number of changes are planned, including:

- Attaching Stop/Go/Reload
- Site Identity:
  • Encapsulating the domain in an editable identity block
  • Yellow/Red block for error/malware sites
- Relocating the Web feed to secondary UI
- Adding a progress bar based indicator for page loading
- Displaying the location of a hovered hyperlink in the content area (in a way that can't confuse users about the identity of the current page).

We'll use separate follow up bugs for each individual issue, and this meta bug for mockups and overall discussion.

Sorry about that, no offense intended. I just wanted to get the meta bug filed as quickly as possible without looking for meta dupes.  I know usual etiquette on Bugzilla is to always dupe back to the oldest bug for the same issue, but I commonly break that rule in order to create new bugs in linear time.

It is not necessarily our goal to recreate exactly what the current mockups on the wiki look like, so this bug is a better reflection of our planned UI direction.

It's always helpful. Sometimes we have to reorganize things or re-phrase bugs to make things clearer or more digestible and usable. Never take anything that happens in Bugzilla for more than what it is — a tool to make Firefox and the underlying platform better. There's no malicious intent or purpose behind administrative changes and reshuffling like this. :)
