It's about time to buckle down and get this done. There are easy wins that we don't really need to measure. For others, we have bug 607777, but if worse comes to worst we could play the "does this seem faster?" game. (I also have a skunk-works project that subsumes bug 607777 but it might not be useful in time for shipping 4.0.)
I can try some things out.
