Actual Results:  There's no "Mark (un)read" entry in the context menu.

I'm sure Ninoschka has this in one of her many filed 3 pane context menu bugs.

According to the spec "mark read/unread" are not included as items in the
context menu for messages. Let's use this bug to track this issue. 
I just created a new bug to track "mail message/context menu" issues (bug#
66707). How about if we move this issue to that bug?

I actually like the idea of having this feature. I frequently change the status
of a message from read to unread.
I just want to be sure we don't fall into the same trap as 4.x, huge context 
menus covering most of the functionality.   
I can go either way on this. If it's not included then I'll select the column
with the green star.

guys, you really should do some advance in this because i just had to click
"next" in the toolbar 3000 times to mark all my imported mail as read :(
Harald, you can just mark all 3000 messages and then choose Message/Mark/As Read.

I was going to add a new bug, but this one seems close enough. I'll let you decide.

At some point in the NS 4.X line, we lost the Message->Mark->AsUnread.

I used to use that alot - usually to correct mistakes. Like, for example, I
might mark all as read by mistake (slip of the mouse when going for 'ByDate'?),
and then mark them all as unread again and correct the mistake.

In the later NS 4.X, NS 6.X and mozilla, IIRC, this option has been removed.

Any chance of having it back again?

Platform is RH Linux 7.2 and SGI IRIX 6.5.15.

Many of us have different habits. I usually mark Unread with the green star. Any
way, it is mouse click. I guess, we can go either way.
what is even easier is just highlighting the relevant message(s) and pressing 'm' :)
I don't think this is limited to windows 2000.  Perhaps teh OS needs to be
changed to All.

Just want to clear everything up here. Mozilla really needs to have "Mark As
Read/Unread" in the context menu (e.g. when you right-click one or more messages).

Take a look at how Outlook Express does it. That's how it should look like and work.

I successfully applied the patch on Mozilla 1.3b (2002031008). I did a quick
test on a POP3 folder and it works.

The patch did not get the approval for checkin into Mozilla tree. You have to
wait for review+, super-review+ and approval+. For the moment, only a request
for review has been issued.

You can select messages and go on menu: message->mark->as read. That will do the
trick. Or better idea, you can select the messages and hit "m" key and all the
selected messages are marked being read. This is already implemented.
Messing with right mouse button is not a good idea IMO... I would leave
everything as it is now.
In M$-Outlook this feature is available and I just want it in Mozilla, too.
When there is a useless "Label" and a "Print Preview" in that menu a new point
"Mark As" wouldn't disturb I think.
Just to clarify: This patch (or at least, a patch like this patch) is now in the
source tree. So there's no need to argue about why it would be a good idea to
have it. It's already there.
