This has been a bug for as long as I can remember and I can reproduce it, I think, 100% of the time, on all platforms. Steps:
1. Sort By -> Threaded
2. Threads -> All
3. Find a thread with 3+ messages.
4. Delete the first message.
5. Undo.
This results always results in one of two problems, with about equal distribution:
Problem 1: The message re-appears in the thread list, except in the wrong order.
Problem 2: The message list becomes completely corrupted and I have to restart Thunderbird.
A screenshot is attached showing the problem.

Trying to interact with the messages after this bug is sort of calamitous. Here's an example of deleting from the tripped out thread.

Standard questions : does it happens in -safe-mode ? Anything in tools -> Error console when you trigger it ?

Yes, this is broken in safe mode. No, there is nothing in the error console.

vander,
Had you posted this same issue in getsatisfaction or a newsgroup?? (I've read this issue before)
similarities in Bug 675439 and Bug 660425
Severity: normal → major

No, sorry, I don't think so. A long time ago there was a third failure mode (crash) and I filed a bug on that, which got fixed.

that'd be Bug 587362.

I had to be a bug report or mozillazine post I had seen in the last couple days, with screen shots. But I've got no patience to look for it further.
