User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:5.0) Gecko/20110706 Firefox/5.0 SeaMonkey/2.2 Build ID: 20110706120824 Steps to reproduce: Updated to seamonkey 2.2. two weeks ago. (Lenovo Thinkpad, IBM UltraNav driver, WIN XP SP3.) Actual results: After that, the scroll with the touchpad doesn´t work in Seamonkey. In any other programs it does. Alias: touchpad_scroll
Summary: since updating to 2.2 scroll vertical with touchpad (thinkpad) impossible → vertical scroll with touchpad only in seamonkey impossible
Is your touchpad a synaptics touchpad?
Yes, it is. Thinkpad UltraNav Pointing Device Driver: Synaptics V:7.5.17.20 / 20060214
Duplicate of bug 605357?
No dup of 605357. Scrolling is impossible only in Seamonkey windows ! In other windows it´s OK (e.g. Internet Explorer, same sites).
(In reply to herbert stimpel from comment #4) > No dup of 605357. > Scrolling is impossible only in Seamonkey windows ! > In other windows it´s OK (e.g. Internet Explorer, same sites). I'm not talking about IE, which is not concerned by any bugzilla.mozilla.org bug in category Core::Widget:Win32. Unless the bug does not appear in Firefox 5 or Thunderbird 5, comment #4 is not relevant.
I didn´t say anything about Firefox or Thunderbird. I use Seamonkey Version 2.2. Since I updated from 2.1 to 2.2, scroll with the touchpad is no more possible in Seamonkey windows. In any other windows it´s OK, for example in WIN EXPLORER, INTERNET EXPLORER, or in any other windows where you can scroll.
In reply to comment #6: 1. Please don't shout. ALL CAPS language is perceived as shouting, except in Bugzilla statuses (e.g. RESOLVED) and resolutions (e.g. INVALID), for acronyms (e.g. RFC) or when quoting a sentence from an RFC where some words are printed in all caps when used in a specific technical sense (e.g. MUST). 2. Win Explorer is not a Mozilla product. 3. Internet Explorer is not a Mozilla product. 4. Bug 605357 is about touchpad scrolling in any Mozilla product, and in Mozilla products only. 5. SeaMonkey, Firefox and Thunderbird are all Mozilla products. 6. The versions of Firefox and Thunderbird built on the same Gecko code as SeaMonkey 2.2 are Firefox 5 and Thunderbird 5. 7. Therefore, if this bug is a dupe of bug 605357, SeaMonkey 2.2, Firefox 5 and Thunderbird 5 should exhibit the same problem. What Internet Explorer or Win Explorer does or doesn't do is no concern whatsoever of that bug. If this is not a dupe of bug 605357, there are other already reported bugs of which it could be one: for example bug 622410, which is also about touchpad scrolling (but with slightly different touchpads), also on any Mozilla product, and also on Mozilla products only. Microsoft products are still not concerned by it. Did I make myself understood this time? See also https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=etiquette.html and http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
In addition to the bugs already mentioned, this might be a dupe of bug 673815, which has now been fixed, but the fix didn't land in time for SeaMonkey 2.2. See bug 673354 comment #2 for a workaround.
Herbert, if you are able to test the nightly SeaMonkey build mentioned in bug 677354 comment 2, it indeed would be useful to know if that resolves your scrolling problems.

I didn´t want to shout. Sorry. 2. - 7. I only use Seamonkey, no other Mozilla products. So I cannot check wether they do the same. I read the bug 605357 and understood, that scrolling does not function in any windows. I´ll check the other bugs as mentioned.
(In reply to Tony Mechelynck [:tonymec] from comment #9) > Oops, I meant bug 677354 comment #2 Hi Tony, I´m very thankful, cause it´s OK now ! The workaround is a simple solution and works fine. Thank you very much !

Hi Cameron, thank for your help. I tried the workaround described in 677354 and it functions very well.

I used the workaraound in bug 677354. Thank you all, I never got help so fast.
(In reply to Cameron McCormack (:heycam) from comment #10) > Herbert, if you are able to test the nightly SeaMonkey build mentioned in > bug 677354 comment 2, it indeed would be useful to know if that resolves > your scrolling problems. Hi Cameron, I tried out the "development version" downloaded via bug 677354 comment 2 --> it functions very well !
Hi Herbert. When you tested out the development version, did you do this with the ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled set to 1 or the default value of -1? If you did it with 1 (i.e., with the workaround) could you try it with it set back to -1? That will let us know know for sure that the next version of SeaMonkey fixes the problem without people having to use the workaround. Thanks.

After download an aktivated I see the value -1. I also tried it out on a different laptop (hp6930p, win xp sp3, synaptics touchpad V7.0) and it´s OK, too.
Great, thanks very much for testing, Herbert!
(In reply to Cameron McCormack (:heycam) from comment #19) > Great, thanks very much for testing, Herbert! Hi Cameron, I updated to Seamonkey 2.10, and it appears again. --> I used the workaround mentioned above, set to 1 solves the problem again. Should I file a new bug reg. version 2.10 ?
