On my new Asus Eee Tablet Transformer, I just today, for the first time, installed the Fennec nightly. When starting it, it the screen goes black and Nightly immediately closes again, crashing. I attached a system log. The most useful output probably starts at: 09-14 13:46:13.464.

So the crash reporter didn't come up?

I installed Aurora as well now, and suddenly the Nightly crash went away, it starts now. Do the different apps share the same Firefox profile on Android?
(In reply to Fred Wenzel [:wenzel] from comment #4) > I installed Aurora as well now, and suddenly the Nightly crash went away, it > starts now. Do the different apps share the same Firefox profile on Android? No - in fact they run as different users and would not even be able to access each other's files if they tried to (which they shouldn't).
(In reply to Fred Wenzel [:wenzel] from comment #4) > I installed Aurora as well now, and suddenly the Nightly crash went away, it > starts now. This crash might be the same as bug 686361. In that bug, it was reported that the third attempt to start Nightly succeeded.
yes I am fairly sure this is the same bug then. after updating yesterday, the problem reoccurred but it started on the third try.
clouserw seemed to have the same experience when first installing the Nightly on his Asus tablet. After trying to start it a bunch of times, it finally opened.

This is the log for the post-update crashes.

This was first reported in bug 686361 in the 2011-09-12 nightly build. It's been reported on both Motorola Xoom and Asus Transformer tablets.
Summary: Today's nightly crashes immediately on start (SIGILL) → Nightly crashes on honeycomb tablet immediately on first start (SIGILL)
I think it's now very unlikely to happen after bug 686694.
we are still seeing all the tegras in automation failing, I still need to double check it is the identical failure.
FWIW, I am no longer seeing the problem happening on my devices. (Yay, for several wipes during rooting. ._. )
I can't reproduce on my Transformer with the 2011-09-12 nightly build :(
Bug 687147 landed a workaround. Can anyone reproduce using a nightly?
qa-wanted to see if this still happens

If there's a way I can test this without nuke-and-paving my tablet, let me know. Otherwise, QA probably has an instance of this tablet they can use to confirm. Fwiw, I haven't seen this happening after any of the nightly *updates* since.
If you can't reproduce it anymore, then this is probably a duplicate of bug 686763. In bug 687147, a workaround, was added that mitigated this crash.
(In reply to Martijn Wargers [:mw22] (QA - IRC nick: mw22) from comment #20) > If you can't reproduce it anymore, then this is probably a duplicate of bug > 686763. That's *this* bug. Which one did you mean to refer to instead?

Which one did you mean to refer to instead? Pretty sure he meant dupe of bug 687147, which I am duping to now. Undupe if someone is still seeing the crash.

Thanks for debugging and (presumably) fixing this, guys!
Yes, sorry, that's what I meant to write down. Btw, I was seeing the same startup crashes on the EE Transformer, which I don't see anymore in current nightlies.
